THIS YEAR THE BETHLEHEM CONSERVATION COMMISSION IS COMBINING SOCIAL DISTANCING WITH OUR ANNUAL ROADSIDE CLEAN UP. Due to Covid-19 concerns and restrictions of group gatherings, we are changing the way we hold the roadside clean up. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER PEOPLE AT THE GAZEBO, GIVE OUT BAGS, OR ORGANIZE BAG PICKUPS ALONG THE ROAD. However, from Saturday, April 25, through Saturday, May 9, on any day the NCES Transfer Station is open, we encourage residents to do their own small part by cleaning up around their neighborhoods. Transfer Station hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If you are going to participate, all trash must go to the Transfer Station. Please do NOT put it in your Casella bins.
Early spring, before roadside grass and plants grow is a good time to see any trash that has accumulated throughout the year. Only clean up trash if it is safe for you to do so. WEAR GLOVES, don’t pick up needles or full bottles (see flyer), and stay visible to passing vehicles.
BECAUSE THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A COMMUNITY EFFORT, we would love to hear where you cleaned up and how much trash you collected. PLEASE POST THAT INFORMATION and any photos on the Bethlehem Conservation Commission Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Bethlehem-Conservation-Commission17126636522888438).
AND BECAUSE WE WON’T BE ABLE TO GATHER FOR ICE CREAM THIS YEAR, we will put the names of everyone who posts their information on our page into THE SOCIAL MEDIA VERSION OF A HAT AND AWARD a $50 gift certificate to a lucky winner. The gift certificate will be to that person’s favorite Bethlehem business. Thanks to our anonymous donors.
We thank you for doing your part to make our town beautiful! Stay safe and we hope to see you next year!MX-M316N_20200417_085118
