Bethlehem Board of Selectmen
Meeting Minutes
Bethlehem Selectmen Office
December 30, 2016

Present: Chairman Glavac, Selectman Blanchard, Selectman Laleme.

Chairman Glavac opened the meeting at 5:00 pm. The Friends of the Colonial have requested that the Select board sign Evidence of Community Support for the USDA Rural Development. This will allow the Friends of the Colonial to apply for an equipment grant for the Colonial Theatre. Chairman Glavac motioned the selectboard show community support, Selectman Laleme seconded. There was some discussion, Francis Claffey, Town Treasurer, asked if there would be any financial or audit cost to the Town. Chairman Glavac said there would be no cost to the Town. The Select board voted unanimously to show community support for the Colonial Theatre.

The Select board reviewed the map provided by Asplund showing which trees they would like to cut on Prospect Street and on Main Street. Some of the trees they would like to cut are on the Town Golf Course. There was concern that the amount of cutting seemed extensive. Selectman Laleme and Selectman Blanchard would like to go see the trees and hear why they would like to trim or cut down those particular trees. Selectman Blanchard said he knows Ray Whitney, from Asplundh, and will contact him to see if Ray would be able to show them the trees and offer additional information. Board agrees that at this point Asplundh does not have their permission to trim or cut the requested trees. Nicole McGrath, Clerical Assistant, will call Ray Whitney next week and let him know.

Selectman Laleme let the Select Board know that the Master Plan has been approved and gave a quick update on Northern Pass. A petition has been started that would give local communities more control when Northern Pass uses local roads.

Selectman Laleme said in preparation for the January 11th, Planning Board Public Hearing, it was discovered that some warrant articles which were pass in previous years were never updated in the local ordinance. It is something that needs to be addressed and was not originally anticipated. As a result she is suggesting an increase in the Planning Board Secretary’s salary of $300 to allow additional hours to research past articles and updated the town zoning ordinance. Selectman Blanchard motioned to add $300 to the salary line, Selectman Laleme seconded, vote passed unanimously.

Chairman Glavac motioned to adjourn the meeting. Selectman Blanchard seconded, vote passed unanimously.

Meeting adjourned 5:15 pm

Respectfully Submitted,
Nicole McGrath, Clerical Assistant
