Transfer station committee

Attending: Chris, Barry, Dann, Leslie, Jim, Andrea, Rich

How to move forward ??

Chris wants to creat a timeline

He talked to engineers

Chris said that Scott Stevenson took compact test at old TS site

What is the best financial option?

Recapped Options:

RT 116

Littleton Station

Town Garage

Using Trudeau Rd, leasing it from Casella

Whole town pickup by Whiting

Look at committee notes from years ago and see what else they saw as options

Look at other town owned land

Barry suggested we Need cost data and benefits from options.

Dann: Whitings

Discussion was about Bear problem with trash. Andrea Mentioned Bear Ordinance-was made to address that problem, she said that trash cans/dumpsters are suppose to be bear proof. Rich thinks the ordinance is only about if you feed them

Andrea said she would bring it in or email it to group.

Barry thinks we should price out town wide pick up

A need at 116 Eversource- 3 prong power. Bring in power. Barry said estimate would be free.

What are compacting/compactor costs?

Town garage: Is there more room at the Town garage? If golf course is sold maybe be able to divide some land off to have more room

Ask Brett how much land at Town Garage.

How much land would be needed for a TS?

116 is already cleared and most of site work is done and town has already spent $ on that site.

28% of trash is composting What does Vermont do now that it is required to compost?

That would take a lot out of trash needing to be trucked away.

Dann: What info is needed to use Littleton?

What does trucking costs?

What would the tipping fees be in Carberry?

Someone said Littleton pays $68 ton. They are part of Pemibaker.

Twin: $54 ton to Carberry. $93 including transportation

What equipment is needed?   Building, trailers universal waste must be in a building

Swap shop requires intensive labor.

Jim said DES would know what is needed for a transfer station

Permits. (Is the old rt116 permit still good?)

Filing requirements?

Need to know What employees are needed?

Barry suggested subcommittees.   Suppose to talk about that next meeting.

Meeting was adorned.

Notes taken by Andrea Bryant
