BETHLEHEM BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MEETING MINUTES
BETHLEHEM TOWN BUILDING MEETING ROOM
February 27, 2012
Present: Chairman David Lovejoy, Selectman Alecia Loveless, Selectman Mike Culver, Selectman Sandy
Laleme, Selectman Jerry Blanchard
Chairman Lovejoy opened the Selectmen’s meeting at 6:30 pm.
The Board went over the items in the Correspondence folder.
The Board noted that they are in receipt of a letter from Rod Marvin regarding the status of Situ Lane. Although the letter states the road is completed to town specs, the Board will need more formal documentation regarding the status of this road before it is taken over if the voters decide to accept this
responsibility. The Board had given Herb Lahout until September to provide documentation such as engineering plans and or road profiles.
Chairman Lovejoy read a letter which will be going out to all employees regarding fundraising. Treasurer Frank Claffey requested authorization from the Board to obtain a TAN in the amount of $450,000. Selectman Culver moved to authorize the loan and was seconded by Selectman Blanchard. The motion carried 5-0.
Chairman Lovejoy noted that a question has come up regarding rental properties and how the townwide garbage pickup under the settlement agreement will affect them. Bryan Gould and Brenda Keith will be discussing this matter and coming back with more information.
Selectman Laleme gave an update on the heating system. Selectman Laleme stated that according to information that she has received it is an issue with the heating pipes between the fire station and the library. The library is still overheating as the heat runs continuously.
Alan Jackson noted that the pipe diagram was flawed as drawn up by the engineer and Trombley just followed the plans as presented. He added that if it had been pumped correctly there would not be an issue. He advised that an engineer look at the primary and secondary loop and advise the town accordingly.
Mr. Jackson stated that the pumps which came with the boilers were oversized and changed by Trombly.
Selectman Laleme will call the engineer and get further information. She will also speak with David Van Houten regarding the federal money and its status.
Selectman Blanchard stated that he is not inclined to pay for a heating system that is not working correctly.
Mr. Jackson noted that the problem might not be able to be corrected during the winter months. Selectman Laleme noted that she is reviewing the welfare guidelines and procedures and will have draft copies available for the next Selectmen’s Meeting.
It was noted that Wayno’s has picked up and removed their dumpster from the town building property. The public was reminded that there will be a Public Hearing tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm to address the status of the Maplehurst Project. The public is urged to attend.
Selectman Blanchard moved to approve the minutes of January 30, 2012 and February 2, 2012. The motion was seconded by Selectman Laleme and carried 5-0.
The Board at this time went into non-public session.
Respectfully submitted,
Cheryl Sargent
Administrative Assistant
