What is a Planning Board?
The planning board is an organized group of selected members of the community in charge of carrying out the future needs, wants, and vision of a community. The Bethlehem Planning Board is an elected group of 7 people from the community, along with up to five alternates. The term is 3 years staggered. This planning board’s regulatory and non-regulatory functions include the creation of regulations (Regulatory Function) and the review of development applications.
Planning Board meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. All home businesses should consult with the planning board clerk. A conceptual plan for your business will be scheduled for a meet and greet with the Planning Board.
Zoning Board of Adjustment
Zoning Board of Adjustment carries out the rules governed by the state and the town. A special Exception or a Variance is done by the Zoning Board of Adjustment. The board is made up of 5 community members elected every 3 years staggered, with up to 3 alternates in place. Zoning Board of Adjustment meets quarterly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at the discretion of the Zoning Board Chair.
